E-mail
AccountsBasically there are three e-mail
services available at The Net Now. Full POP3 e-mail accounts, e-mail aliases and
e-mail auto-responders. Each are very valuable and serve a different purposes.
E-mail POP account:
This is a regular e-mail account such as the one you would get from your
ISP.
If you own your own domain you would have something like me@mydomain.com. Otherwise, it would be me@thenetnow.com. A POP e-mail account must be
configured on your email program such as Eudora or outlook express. These programs
generally have a simple method to switch between e-mail accounts if you have more than one
POP account. This type of e-mail passes incoming and outgoing the mail on our
servers as opposed to your ISP's.
E-mail Aliases
An e-mail alias simply redirects mail addressed to one e-mail address to another
address. The address can point to your home e-mail address or another POP account.
They are simple to use as there is no need to configure another e-mail address on
your computer. All web hosting accounts at The Net Now come with at least one e-mail
alias. The downside is when you SEND e-mail, it will show your regular home
address, not the alias.
E-mail Auto-responders
An auto-responder is just that. It will send back a reply
e-mail automatically to any incoming e-mail. These are commonly used to let the
sender know you have received his/her e-mail and will respond to it shortly. You can
use them in response to queries about products sold on your website to give buyers
additional information such as a password to a secure part of your website. (The
only way they get to see the secure area is to provide you with a valid e-mail address)
